New Tuscan venue for Primatist Trophy 2010
New horizons are opening up for the Primatist Trophy which is heading for the Tuscan archipelago for its 2010 edition. This move to one of the Peninsula’s most enchanting corners is an important step for the regatta which was the brainchild of Bruno Abbate himself. Between July 27th and 30th, in fact, the spotlight will be on Porto Azzurro, Porto Ercole, Talamone and Ansedonia with regularity trials in all three locations as well as shore-based competitions in the ports and glamorous evenings galore in the most exclusive and beautiful spots on this stretch of the Tuscan Coast.
“We are very enthusiastic and excited about this move,” said Marco Abbate. “Although we are very fond of Sardinia, we decided to change the venue for the event this year to give our guests the chance to visit new places and to inject new life into the Primatist Trophy itself. Our owners were delighted with the news with the result that participant numbers have increased as has overall interest in the event. Our organisational machine has been working for some time now to ensure that everything runs smoothly and that our new partners, to whom I extend my thanks for their faith in us, will feel justified in having believed in us as much as we believed in them.”
Like the last edition, points clocked up at sea will be boosted by maritime culture and berthing test results. However, a new shore-based Primatist history quiz is also being introduced this year to test the true depth of guests’ and clients’ devotion to the yard. This new formula will really get the participating crews involved, but as ever, however, they will also be spending a truly unique week, enjoying a sense of being one of the lucky Primatist People.
“Flying Tuscans” and reigning champions Claudio Manetti and Luciano Semplici will be competing in home waters too. This alone should spur them on in fending off attacks from the many other participants for whom winning will be just a little more important than the taking part. The latter will most definitely include the great Alessandra Sensini, Victoria Cabello, Loris Capirossi, Adriano Panatta, Oscar Polli and Guido Cappellini, of course.
